The Absolute Safari - August 2023

Another magnificent sunrise awaited us with a surprise. There is the camp feeding on acacia trees was a huge elephant.

We watched in awe as we climbed into our 4 X 4 jeeps ready to explore the crater. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a vast protected area with over 30,000 large mammals (the densest wildlife populations on earth), breathtaking landscapes, mountains and the world's largest unbroken caldera.

We drove down into the crater with views of animals. Wildebeest, elephants and more. On the lake were hippos and flamingos basking in the sun.
While not as spectacular as the Serengeti it was a great end to the first third of the overland trip.
