The Absolute Safari Oct 6 - 9

ree

Passport in hand for my final stamp of this long journey through East and South Africa.  Desert turned into farmlands and vineyards as we made our way for the overnight stop. Our host taught us the finer points of wine tasting but all was forgotten with dancing drinking singing and laughing as we closed the place down.

We packed up the tents and back on the yellow truck for a short drive to the second to last stop on this epic journey, Stellenbosch.  We are and drank on a full day wine tour.  Enjoying the lush scenery of the cape peninsula region of south Africa.

Many of us started the tour on July 28 as strangers in Kenya.  Along the way we camped and partied, ate and drank and experienced adventures that will last a lifetime.  We said goodbye to some and welcomed others into our fellowship of travelers.  But here it was day 77 as we made our way back to the hotel in Cape Town.  One last group dinner.  One last set of hugs as we walked slowly back to our rooms to the night and on to new adventures.

"So take the photographs and still frames in your mind

Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time

Tattoos of memories, and dead skin on trial

For what it's worth, it was worth all the while

It's something unpredictable

But in the end, it's right

I hope you had the time of your life"
